Chenxu Zhang

I want to understand how the world works—and build what comes next.

That curiosity takes me across finance, software, and experimental science—building simulations, tools for the lab, and courses that invite others to explore.

About

My route into research software began with finance.

Training in finance and software engineering took me from analyzing financial data to building the software behind models and experiments. I’m interested in feedback, uncertainty, and making the assumptions behind an analysis clear.

Course index 7 courses

FIN 6161Design & teaching

Investment Analysis

Notebook-based assignments and applied labs connect return and risk measurement, portfolio construction, CAPM, and factor models to real market data. Students interpret their results through executive-summary reports.

CED 6230Course design

Quantitative Methods

Python- and R-integrated learning activities develop statistical reasoning, data analysis, and reproducible workflows. Canvas-ready modules, assignments, and quizzes connect quantitative evidence to decisions.

CED 6150Course design

Risk Analytics in Finance and Economics

Updated modules and project-based exercises explore market and economic data, uncertainty, and risk assessment. Programming-supported workflows help connect model outputs to their assumptions and limitations.

FIN 6101Teaching

Accounting Fundamentals for Financial Institutions

Financial reporting, the relationships between financial statements, transaction flows, and internal controls. Case-based exercises use common-size and ratio analysis to evaluate institutional performance.
